UFC 252 Fight Analysis
Updated: Sep 8, 2020
There has been a lot of buzz around the heavyweight GOAT question in the past week so allow me to give the correct answer: Stipe and Fedor are the 2 best heavyweights of all time - I don't really care what order you decide to put them in but nothing will change after tonight. Fedor advocates will cite his incredible record over the years in and Stipe defenders will point to his record breaking number of UFC title defenses against stiffer and more consistent competition. Either way, DC winning does not elevate his heavyweight status over either of these two. While he is a great heavyweight, one title defense against Derrick Lewis does not propel you into GOAT status.
..Unless you are the type of person that ranks Chris Weidman over Anderson Silva, then I really have nothing to say to you.
Career statistics breakdown of the key match ups tonight:
Picks:
Sean O'Malley -265
Notes: The height, the reach, the legend.
Jim Miller +105
Notes: Miller had a nice performance in his last bout and I think he will continue with the
momentum.
Junior Dos Santos +108
Notes: Serious question - do you trust Rozenstruik bouncing back this early after that
Ngannou loss?
Stipe Miocic -106
Notes: Full disclosure I am a big Stipe fan so take this pick with a grain of salt
Virna Jandiroba -315
Notes: See Herrig's "Opponent Signature Strikes per Minute".
Ashley Yoder +130
Notes: Yoder is 2-4 in the UFC and coming off a loss. She does have a significant height
and reach advantage in this fight and I am hoping she can put that to use.
Herbert Burns -250
Notes: Burns is 2-0 in the UFC and going up against a struggling opponent in Daniel
Pineda.
